Your car’s air-conditioner not working is caused by a failing compressor or a freon leak. While these may be the easy to spot reasons for the air-conditioning not working in the car, it might be something as simple as a dirty cabin filter or a bad compressor belt. Regardless of how or why when you are counting on the sweet relief of ice-cold air it is incredibly irritating anytime it won’t come through. The most likely reason the AC isn’t cooling is the vehicle’s AC started leaking. Your car’s AC system uses freon to lower the ambient air temperature which creates needed cold air. Anytime you’ll need some refreshing cool air, it won’t be possible when there’s a freon leak occurring. Another reason for your air-conditioning not blowing cold air is that your vehicle is a hybrid. The AC system needs the engine power, so if your vehicle is in EV mode then the engine will stop running and not power the AC.
If the AC is turned on but the fan isn’t working then there might be a defective air-conditioner fuse. Fuses protect car components from a power surge and even though it may just need to be replaced, if your air-conditioner fuse continues to pop then it’s possible you have a larger problem. A low amount of air-conditioner refrigerant or a possible leak could also be the issue, which our highly skilled technicians can look at.
If you’ve noticed any damp spots in or around your car recently, that could be because of an AC leak in your vehicle. For any AC to push cold air into your car, it has to place all the moisture it’s used from the outdoors and flows down the evaporator drain. This could also be caused by the AC Refrigerant level being low which leads to the evaporator coils freezing up and an overflow of condensation. You should also keep a lookout for faulty seals in the air-conditioner compartment or the air-conditioning’s air filters if this issue continues to happen.
